Sipoonkorpi is a wilderness, which you will reach easily from downtown Helsinki. Make a nature excursion in enjoy a picnic by a campfire.

A picnic in the heart of the forest, a night on the town – this is what you can achieve when making a trip to Helsinki and to Sipoonkorpi National Park. The national park is a true wilderness area, just a hop from Helsinki city center. Make a day trip to Sipoonkorpi and make it back to town by night. 

There are several campfire sites in Sipoonkorpi, where you can roast a sausage and cook coffee on the open fire. The campfire sites are well maintained and they are located along the marked hiking trails. 

Please observe, that during forest fire alarm it is strictly prohibited to make a fire in the forest, except for in the furnaces which are located at the cooking stalls in Storträsk and in Bisajärvi and at Ängesböle wanderers' hut. 

Ängesböle campfire site

This atmospheric campfire site is locates at the Ängesböle camping are and wanderers' hut, by the Byabäcken nature trail. You can hike here along the Byabäcken trail, which leads you through some cultural heritage grounds, as the region was already inhabited during the 12th century. The one-and-a-half-kilometer hike is healthy and will attract your appetite!

The Ängesböle campfire site has a canopy. There's an outhouse by the campfire site. 

Kalkkiruukki campfire site

The Kalkkiruukki campfire site and wanderers' hut are located in connection with Kalkkiruukki camping site, along Kalkinpolttajanpolku nature trail. This five-kilometre hiking trail criss-crosses in the national park forest, and there are several nature sights along the path. Have a picnic and wonder the beautiful nature in Sipoonkorpi.  

There's an outhouse by the campfire site. 

Storträsk cooking stall

This cooking stall sits on a beautiful spot by the Storträsk lakeshore, about 1,5 kilometer from Tasakalliontie parking area. There's a paved, wheelchair-accessible hiking trail towards the lakeshore. There are a few wooden tables and chairs right by the lake Storträsk – here you can cook food outdoors and enjoy the nature at its prettiest. 

The lakeshores are partly paved, and expect to meet lot of fishers as lake Storträsk is a popular fishing destination with some stocked rainbow trout. The fishery is maintained by the local fishery association, and you will need a permit for fishing here. Get your permit from the local website: http://www.stortrask.com/

No fire-making is allowed elsewhere than on the cooking stall. This prohibition also includes one-way bbq equipment.  

Bisajärvi cooking stall

Walk off the beaten path from Kalkkiruukki nature trail, and you'll end up at Bisajärvi lakeshore. Find a recently built cooking stall and an outhouse on the northeastern lakeside.

The cooking stall is located on a clifftop, from where the scenery is pretty nice. Lake Bisajärvi is a small picturesque lake, and a picnic here is a memorable experience. 

This cooking stall has a furnace, and making a fire is allowed even during the forest fire warning. Always be extra careful when making a fire, do not leave the fire unattended and remember to put out the fire in the furnace when you leave the premises.
