Fiskars Village nature trails
There is an easy access to two nature paths from Fiskars Village center. The Rissla Forest Path leads to the nearby forests and ponds of Fiskars region. The forests here are beautiful and consist mostly of pine-trees and spruces. The route is mostly walked in the forest but there are short sections of dirt roads as well. There's a wanderers' hut and a campfire site along the route – the perfect place for a breather and an in-between snack. The route is marked along the way with orange-coloured markings.
Rissla Forest Path also offers a glimpse on the cultural history of Fiskars region. The path leads to an abandoned water power plant and to the Rissla dam, both dating back to the late 19th century. The Rissla power plant was originally built in 1899, as the ironworks in the village required more electricity.
Rissla Forest Path begins in Fiskars Village Center, and the route can be walked clockwise or counter-wise. You can choose to walk the shorter section of 3 kilometres, or the longer section of 6 kilometres. The longer route leads to the Rissla dam, then further to lake Kivijärvi and back to Fiskars Village. The shorter route cuts directly to lake Kivijärvi. Please note, that biking on the Rissla Forest Path is not allowed.
Another fascinating nature path is the 2-kilometre Tree Species Path, leading through the village to the surrounding forests. Along the trail there are 23 marked tree species, the highlight being a 200-year old oak, which has seen the rise of the Fiskars Village from a small ironworks community to the culture center of today.
The Tree Species Path begins at Restaurant Kuparipaja and circles around Suutarinmäki and Lippukallio districts.
The Fiskars Village Trail Center is a network of 60 kilometres of biking and path running trails – Fiskars if thus a mandatory visiting point for all cyclists and outdoor lovers. We have collected infomation on the Trail Center on a separate web page.
