An array of outdoor activities await you at lake Kuusijärvi. Swim at a beautiful lakeshore near Metropolitan Helsinki, enjoy a picnic or go on a nature hike. 

The Kuusijärvi outdoor area, on the western side of Sipoonkorpi National Park, close to Helsinki and Finland's metropolitan area, is a unique destination. Here you can experience the atmosphere of a true wilderness, and also swim in the lake at a beautiful, family-friendly swimming beach, which also serves winter swimmers as there is a heated dressing room and there are two saunas.   

A lakeshore swimming beach near Helsinki

Lake Kuusijärvi is a smallish forest lake, with an exceptionally beautiful public swimming beach, maintained by the city of Vantaa. During the winter the beach is utilzed by ice swimmers, and during the summer the beach is filled with families on picnic and children swimming in the warm lake. 

The water quality and level of bacteria and algae is being constantly monitored by the city of Vantaa, and extra care is being directed in keeping the beach and the premises clean and tidy. There are swimming guards on duty during the summer season. 

Great location near Helsinki, next to Sipoonkorpi National Park

Lake Kuusijärvi and the outdoor area are located outside Sipoonkorpi National Park borders – there's a new walking bridge leading to the national park from Kuusijärvi. The location is easily reachable, from the Vantaa suburbs just a hop away, and some 20 kilometres from downtown Helsinki. There's a spacious parking area near the lake, and public transit connections from Helsinki and Vantaa are also excellent.  

Nice premises for outdoor activities

Kuusijärvi outdoor area serves the public with many options for outdoor activities. The swimming beach is open all year long as well a heated dressing room. Two saunas, an electric sauna and a traditional wood-heated "smoke" sauna, warm the ice swimmer and all visitor during the winter. Outhouses are in use throughout the year.  

There's easy access to the hiking trails in Sipoonkorpi National Park from Kuusijärvi, and also other lit jogging and biking paths criss-cross in the region. Those will be turned to cross-country skiing routes during the winter. 

There's a beach volley field on the beach, as well as campfire site and a cooking stall.
