Iso Vasikkasaari is one of the old villa islands in the Espoo archipelago, where city dwellers have enjoyed the marine nature and their holidays since the days of steamships. Another great attraction is Rödä Villa, built in the 1870s as a summer residence for bank manager Landen. Another magnificent villa is Gula Villa, now a summer restaurant.
There is also a lookout tower at Big Vasikkasaari, with stunning views of the Gulf of Finland and the shores of Espoo.
Matinkylä Manor
Built in the 1940s, the main building of Matinkylä Manor is located on roughly the same site where the original village of Mattby with its other buildings was situated in the 16th century. This is where the settlement of Matinkylä originated, in the middle of maritime Espoo. Matinkylä Manor, also known as Matinkartano, is one of the most fascinating sights in Espoo. From Matinkylä beach to the centre of Matinkylä, it is about 800 metres to walk.
