Rent a rowing boat from Natura Viva and have a family picnic on this island in the lake. Teijo National Park is the great nature destination in Southern Finland.
Isoholma Wanderers’ Hut is located on the Isoholma island, which lies in the middle of lake Matildanjärvi. There’s another Isoholma island as well in Teijo National Park, out in the sea, but this lake island you will reach easily with a rental rowing boat, a SUP board or a canoe. Come to Teijo Nature Center at Matildanjärvi lakeshore and rent a vessel.
Lake Matildanjärvi is an idyllic forest lake, and a family picnic at the campfire site on the lake island is a great outdoor experience. There’s a wanderers’ hut at the campfire site – you can spend the night in this wooden canopy which gives shelter from the rain. There’s also space for tents around the hut, so an overnight stay in Isoholma is definitely doable. Just ask Natura Viva staff for details about overnight equipment rentals.
Take your whole family with you and head on the island. You will have a great time in the middle of Finnish nature.
Metsähallitus takes care of the campfire sights in Teijo National park and they make sure that the sights have firewood ready for use. It is a good idea to take a knife and proper equipment to make fire with you.
