Want to go camping by a lake near Helsinki? Travel to Nuuksio and visit the Kattilajärvi camping – swimming and camping in the beautiful nature!
The Kattilajärvi camping site is connected to the Kattilajärvi campfire site. The premises are located in the eastern parts of the Nuuksio National Park, on the lakeshore of lake Kattilajärvi, one of the largest forest lakes in the national park, with clear waters and stunningly beautiful landscapes. Spend an overnight trip here, by the lake in the middle of the pristine Finnish forest scene – imagine a camping trip by a lake just in the vicinity of the Helsinki metropolitan area. Here in Nuuksio it is definitely possible!
Kattilajärvi together with lake Urja and lake Vääräjärvi feature a three lakes area, characterized by their many pathways across the lakeshores. This area is a nice destination for forest hiking trip. Follow the Haukkalampi-Haltia connection trail, leaving from Hawk Nest, Natura Viva’s Nuuksio depot. The last part of the trail heads east on unmarked paths, so make sure you have your compass and a map with you.
Adjacent to the camping site there’s a campfire place with a cooking shelter. There’s also a public swimming area nearby on the lakeshore, maintained by the City of Espoo. It’s a lovely place to go swimming in the pure Finnish forest lake waters.
You'll find a well with potable water at the camping area.
