Guided Fatbike tours
Helsinki is full of nature and a great way to explore it is by riding a Fatbike with our skilled guides. The bikes are easy and fun to ride. We ride on dirt roads and small tracks through forests and along the coast of eastern Helsinki. The bikes work well in the winter, so the tours are not dependent on the weather. Snowy and icy conditions make the ride a bit more demanding, but just as fun. Join us on an unforgettable bike ride!
The Natura Viva Fatbike tours in Vuosaari are available all year round: the Helsinki Winter Fatbike tours are held every Saturday and Sunday until the end of April, and private tours can be held every day! Choose your date and we will confirm the bike and guide availabilities. For the guided Fatbike tours we recommend the participant had some prior experience in bicycling.
Vuosaari – a bike country
The Vuosaari district expands over an area of 150 hectares, and thus the biking premises are intriguing: You can pedal along the seashore or venture deeper into the pine tree forests. And if you fancy a more urban yet nautical environment, there are numerous boulevards and suburban centres around the area. The Aurinkolahti beach with a continental vibe is located just a kilometer away from the Paddling Center.
The nearest nature trails to the Paddling Center can be found at Kallahdenniemi peninsula. You will follow the narrow road across the nature reservation zone and finally reach a biking trail. This area is the only natural ridge in Helsinki and the views are spectacular, as you will have the Baltic Sea surrounding you from both sides. Here you can also test your terrain driving skills, as there are many narrow paths criss-crossing in the pine forest.
On the other side of the forest you will find the Kallahdenniemi beach, a perfect place for a breather. Observe the kite surfers doing their thing and enjoy the maritime weather. On the furthest point of the peninsula you will reach the Cape Kuningatar. The seashore is at its most beautiful here, and there are a few demanding paths for the avid Fatbike rider.
Aurinkolahti and Uutela nature zone
Aurinkolahti, located to the east from the Paddling Center, is a suburb with a Central European flair. The houses are spectacular and the beach definitely worth visiting. The boulevards here are made from beautiful dreams and here and there you can find small cafés and restaurants. After Aurinkolahti the Uutela nature zone invites you for a visit: the pathways follow the shoreline, and small sandy beaches invite for a small break. Maybe a sandwich and a coffee at the sea – why not? The pathways in Uutela pose a challenge to riders, regardless of skill and experience.
Driving west from the Paddling Center you will enter the Meri-Rastila district, one of the most vivid suburbs in Helsinki. The nature is also beautiful here, but the hilly pathways and trails demand some fitness. You can follow the pathways here all the way to Mustavuori and Vuosaarenhuippu, a man-made hill with a rich ecosystem. The view from the top expands over all of Helsinki, so definitely worth a visit.
Remember to stay on the marked trails and tracks inside the natural preservation zones as it is forbidden to ride a bike outside them inside the preservation zones. Always observe and give space for other people enjoying the outdoors and mind the traffic.
