Lake Mustalampi and its floating turf rafts are one of the most famous sights in the Nuuksio National Park. Camp by the lake and feel the nature around you.
Lake Mustalampi is an artificial lake, generated through dams. As the water level rose, huge rafts of soil started floating on the surface, and thus one of the most famous Nuuksio National Park sights was created.
The turf rafts make Mustalampi an interesting day or overnight trip destination. The shores feature two separate campfire and camping grounds, on both sides of the trail leading towards the lake from the northern side, located only some 500 meters from the Hawk Nest base camp. You will most likely encounter other hikers and campers, as this is one of the most popular destinations in the National Park.
There are two campfire places and a cooking stall on the premises, as well as an outhouse. Water must be carried from the Hawk Nest.
