Outdoor Equipment Rentals in Southern Finland – FAQ

Not sure what to rent or how it works? Natura Viva makes it simple: choose your gear, book online, and get clear instructions at the service point. Here are the most common questions about rentals, included equipment, and practical details.

What outdoor equipment can I rent?

Do I need previous experience to rent the equipment?

No. Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level. You don’t need prior experience to rent outdoor equipment from Natura Viva. Our customer service team can help you choose suitable gear and will guide you on correct and safe use.

If you’re a beginner, keep in mind:

  • For your first kayaking trip, Rainbow Oasis (single) or Rainbow Oasis Twin (tandem) base kayaks are excellent choices.

  • For kayaking and SUP, check the forecast in advance and choose calmer, less windy days.

  • We can also suggest routes at our locations—feel free to ask if you’re unsure.

How do I make a reservation?

You can book either:

  • Online in Natura Viva’s webshop, or

  • On-site at a Natura Viva service point

Paying with employee exercise/wellness benefits is also possible in the webshop.

We strongly recommend booking online in advance to secure the equipment you want for your preferred time—especially on warm summer weekends, when service points can be busy.

What’s included in the rental?

Kayak rental includes:

  • PFD (life vest)

  • Spray deck (cockpit cover)

  • Kayak paddle

  • At Vuosaari Kayaking Centre, rentals also include a paddling map showing the local recreational islands.

Canoe rental includes:

  • PFD (life vest)

  • Cover (as provided with the canoe)

  • Canoe paddles

  • At Vuosaari Kayaking Centre, rentals also include a paddling map showing the local recreational islands.

SUP board rental includes:

  • PFD (life vest)

  • Leash

  • SUP paddle

  • If you wish, you can also take a Vuosaari paddling map with you.

Rowing boat rental includes:

  • PFDs (life vests)

  • Bailer

  • Oars

  • At Vuosaari Kayaking Centre, rentals also include a paddling map showing the local recreational islands.

Fatbike rental includes:

  • Helmet

  • Optional bike lock (if you want one)

  • With your booking, we’ll also send a link with a suggested cycling route

Can I rent a kayak for an overnight trip?

Yes.

The nearby waters and recreational islands around Vuosaari Kayaking Centre are a top choice for one- or two-night kayak trips. On the website, you can rent a kayak for a maximum of 24 hours. If you’re planning a longer trip, please contact customer service.

For overnight trips:

  • Choose a touring kayak for an overnight outing. Our customer service team can recommend a kayak that fits your needs.

  • Rainbow Oasis Twin tandem kayaks are not suitable for overnight trips, as they have very limited storage space.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my booking?

You can reschedule or cancel according to our cancellation terms and conditions. Please always send rescheduling/cancellation notices by email to info@naturaviva.fi.

Can I pick up, return, or use the equipment elsewhere, or outside opening hours?

In general, pick-up and return happen during the service point’s opening hours, and single rentals are typically used starting from the service point.

If you’d like to get on the water early in the morning or want more flexibility around your own schedule, it’s worth looking into Natura Viva season passes.

For groups, we can offer more flexible options, such as guided tours also outside our service points. If you’re planning a nature day for a group and need an arrangement outside our service locations, contact sales@naturaviva.fi and we’ll plan a suitable package together.

Location

Pick-up and return are handled at Natura Viva service points during opening hours. The available equipment and destinations depend on the activity—see the destination lists under each equipment type above.
