A memorable night trip in the Nuuksio national park includes overnighting in a tent. Visit the beautiful Urja camping area.
Camping in Nuuksio is free – at least on most camping areas. The Urja camping area, located in the Urja lakeshore on the eastern tip of the Nuuksio national park, is one of the most beautiful locations in the whole national park.
Urja, together with the lakes Vääräjärvi and Kattilajärvi, combine to a trio of lakes situated next to each other, with small hiking trails criss-crossing between the waters and on the lakeshore. This district is a perfect hiking destination, some six kilometers to the east of Hawk Nest, Natura Viva’s Nuuksio depot in the heart of the national park.
The Urja camping site is located on the southernmost tip of this elongated lake. The waters are clear here and the rocky lakeshores rise steeply from the surface. The scenery is epic, to say the least.
The Urja camping area has a designated fireplace. There’s also a wood-shed with firewood and an axe for chopping some more wood, and an outhouse. This camping area is a great night trip destination in Nuuksio.
