Sustainable tourism certifications and commitments in Finland – Natura Viva
Natura Viva has been certifying its sustainability work since 2020. We operate responsibly, and on 30 October 2026 we were awarded the international Biosphere certification. We are also currently renewing the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label. These recognitions are earned through active, responsible choices—and by reporting on them transparently and thoroughly.
Our commitment to responsible nature tourism
We are committed to environmentally friendly, sustainable tourism. In our operations, we focus on:
Protecting biodiversity
Using resources responsibly
Increasing customers’ environmental awareness
We also encourage other tourism businesses to commit to responsible practices. Certifications and the STF label don’t just verify sustainable actions, but third-party sustainability auditors can also provide concrete support for developing corporate responsibility.
Biosphere certification (awarded 30 October 2026)
Biosphere is an international sustainable tourism certification based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Natura Viva was awarded the certification on 30 October 2026. It is monitored through assessments carried out at least every 12 months, which help us keep improving our operations.
You can check the status of the certificate on the Biosphere website.
Sustainable Travel Finland label (renewal in progress)
The Sustainable Travel Finland programme is a sustainability label and development path created by Visit Finland. The STF label is granted to companies committed to environmentally friendly, responsible tourism—and to continuous improvement.
The programme supports tourism companies and destinations in developing more responsible operations and provides practical tools for making sustainable choices. To receive the STF label, a company must certify its operations. In Natura Viva’s case, this is the Biosphere certification.
Partner company of Metsähallitus
Natura Viva provides nature tourism services in Teijo National Park and Nuuksio National Park, and we are committed to Metsähallitus’ principles of sustainable tourism:
We support the preservation of site values and promote nature protection.
We minimise environmental impact.
We strengthen local identity and localness.
We promote wellbeing and health benefits created by the destination.
We support local economic growth and job creation.
We communicate together about the destination’s values and services.
Responsible tourism in protected areas
Metsähallitus has published a comprehensive report on sustainable business in protected nature areas. The primary purpose of protected areas is to safeguard the most vulnerable nature—yet they also attract visitors, which creates a need for responsibly produced services.
